Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Golden Triangle Storage, LLC (“GTS” or “Golden Triangle”), a subsidiary of Caliche Development Partners III, LLC (“Caliche”), owns a federally regulated, interstate underground natural gas facility located near Beaumont, Texas in Jefferson County. GTS is seeking authorization from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct, own, operate, and maintain the Spindletop Expansion Project, which would add approximately 30.75 billion cubic feet of new natural gas storage capacity to the Existing Storage Facilities and includes the following facilities:
All the proposed facilities comprising the Spindletop Expansion Project will be located within the existing Central Storage Site and an adjacent leased property.
The Spindletop Expansion Project is needed to satisfy growing demand for natural gas storage in the Gulf Coast region.
On March 31, 2025, GTS filed an application with FERC in Docket No. CP25-167 seeking approval to construct and operate the Spindletop Expansion Project. Pending approval by FERC, construction of the facilities is anticipated to begin in the first half of 2026 with an anticipated in-service date for the first of the caverns in the second half of 2028.
