Caroline Wachtman


Caroline has extensive experience managing and executing complex subsurface projects and has explored, developed and produced resources worldwide. She spent 15 years with ExxonMobil, where she led multiple cross-functional teams identifying and evaluating energy opportunities. Recently, she served as an Executive in Residence at the Rice Alliance Clean Energy Accelerator, where she advised a cohort of cleantech startups. Now, she is eager to apply her project management and reservoir characterization expertise to identify and evaluate projects that support a low-carbon future.

As Director of Energy Transition & Capital Projects at Caliche, Caroline manages low-carbon projects, including carbon capture for permanent geologic sequestration and hydrogen storage. She and the team will continue to manage capital projects which expand the company’s existing assets while reducing the carbon footprint of its operations.

Caroline has a BS in Geology from the College of William & Mary and a MS in Geology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has participated in three executive leadership programs, including the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Caroline is also published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
